Pallet Dimensions  when specifying overall pallet size, the length of the runner/stringer is always expressed first; for example, a 48" x 40" pallet has a 48" runner/stringer and 40" top deck
Flush Pallet  a pallet with top boards flush with the runner/stringers, stringers-boards or blocks along the sides of the pallet
Block Pallet  a type of pallet with blocks between the pallet decks or beneath the top deck, for 4-way entry
Double Face Pallet a pallet with top and bottom decks
Double Wing Pallet a pallet with top and bottom decks boards extending beyond the edges runner/stringers or stringers boards
Single Wing Pallet a pallet with top decks boards extending beyond the edges of the runner/stringers or stringer boards with the bottom flush
Reversible Pallet  a pallet with identical numbers of top and bottom decks
Non-Reversible Pallet a pallet with bottom deck boards configuration different from top deck
Two Way Entry Pallet a pallet with unnotched runner/stringers allowing entry only from the ends 
Slave Pallet  pallet, platform or single, thick panel used as a support base for palletized load in rack-storage facilities or production systems; example of slave pallets using, plywood and MDF
Warehouse Pallet  a double face multiple trip returnable pallet intended for general warehouse usage 
Fully Cover Pallet a pallet constructed with no spacing between deck boards
One Way Pallet pallet designed to be used for single one-way trip from shipper to receiver; then disposed
Returnable/ Reusable Pallet  a pallet designed to be used for more than one time
Reconditioned a pallet that has been used, discarded, salvaged or repaired and which passes through the cycled again
Deck Board Spacing distance between one board to another
Center Deck Board any deck board located between the edge board
Chamfered Deck Boards deck boards with edges of one or two faces beveled, either along the full or specified length of board or between the runner/stringers or blocks, allowing easier entry of pallet jack wheels
Notch cut out in lower portion of the runner/stringer to allow entry for the fork (partial four way entry)
Strap Slot  recess or cut out on the upper edge of the runner/stringer or the bottom to allow tie-down of a unit load to the pallet deck with strapping
Clearance Height  the vertical distance measured between decks, from the floor to the underside of the top deck
Overall Height  the vertical distance measured from the floor to the topside of top deck
Fork Entry  opening between decks, beneath the top deck
Pallet Jack  hand-propelled, wheeled platform, equipped with a lifting device for moving palletized unit loads
Deflection the amount of deformation or bending in a pallet or pallet component under load dimensions
Unit Load  assembly of goods on a pallet for handling, moving, storing and stacking as a single entity
